Enhanced Access to Justice with DOJ Forms and Initiatives

Streamlining Registration and Acceptance Processes

The Department of Justice (DOJ) continues to improve its services by providing digital solutions for various legal procedures. To enhance access to justice, the department has made several forms available online, including WEB J401 for trust registration or amendment, WEB J405 for the acceptance of an auditor, and WEB J417 for the acceptance of various documents.

Online Registration System for Deceased Estates

In a significant step towards simplifying probate processes, the Masters Deceased Estate Online Registration System went live on October 10, 2023. This system allows executors to register deceased estates conveniently and efficiently through a secure online platform. The system is designed to expedite estate administration and provide greater transparency and accountability.

Subpoena Issuance Under the Maintenance Act

To support the enforcement of maintenance obligations, the DOJ has introduced a new form for issuing subpoenas under Section 92 of the Maintenance Act, 1998 Act No. 99. Legal practitioners and other authorized individuals can now obtain subpoenas electronically, facilitating swift action in maintenance matters.

Momentum Center: A Central Hub for Justice

The National Office Momentum Center, located at 329 Pretorius Street in Pretoria, serves as a central hub for justice services. This facility provides a range of support to the public, including legal advice and assistance, access to court services, and victim support programs. The Presidential Hotline is also available at the center, connecting citizens directly with the presidency for urgent matters.

The DOJ's commitment to enhancing access to justice is evident in these initiatives, which streamline legal processes and provide citizens with convenient and efficient avenues for obtaining justice.
